Overview
Liryn is designed with privacy as a core principle. We do not operate analytics or advertising systems, and we do not collect personal data through the Liryn app or browser extensions.
Data Collection
Liryn does not collect, store, or transmit personal information, usage analytics, or telemetry to Liryn-operated servers. The app runs locally on your device.
App Store Sandbox
Liryn operates within the macOS App Store sandbox. It can only access files and network resources you explicitly authorize.
Browser Extensions
Liryn's browser extensions communicate only with the local Liryn app on your Mac. They are designed to detect supported downloadable files and media manifests, including direct-file URLs, HLS manifests, and DASH manifests, and pass those capture intents to the app locally.
To support that handoff, the extensions may process the resource URL being captured, the current page URL, frame URL, initiator URL, filename hints, and lightweight classification metadata needed to preserve download context and determine whether a resource is supported.
This data is used only to power local capture and handoff behavior, avoid duplicate captures, and help the Liryn app continue the download with the correct request context. That data is not sent to Liryn-operated remote servers, is not sold, and is not used for advertising or profiling.
The Chrome-family extensions use the browser's native messaging bridge to send capture intents to the local Liryn macOS app on the same device. The extensions also keep short-lived local state for deduplication, recent-capture detection, and similar runtime coordination. Liryn's browser extensions do not execute remote code.
Downloads
All downloaded files are stored locally on your Mac in the location you choose. Liryn does not upload, sync, or share your downloads.
Third-Party Services
Liryn does not integrate with third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. If your browser or operating system offers optional crash reporting, diagnostic sharing, or similar platform-level features, those are governed by your settings with that platform provider rather than by Liryn.
