Liryn on Linux.
The Linux build ships through a signed apt repository for Ubuntu 24.04-based systems. It installs the GTK4 app, a per-user capture service, and browser integration. Everything runs unprivileged after install.
Add the repository
One command adds the signing key, scoped to this repository alone so it can never validate anything else on your system.
curl -fsSL https://downloads.liryn.app/linux/liryn-archive-keyring.asc | sudo tee /etc/apt/keyrings/liryn.asc > /dev/null
echo "deb [signed-by=/etc/apt/keyrings/liryn.asc] https://downloads.liryn.app/linux stable main" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/liryn.list Install
Dependencies (GTK4, systemd, ffmpeg) resolve through apt. Updates then arrive with your ordinary system updates — apt verifies every fetch against the key you just added.
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install liryn Set up capture in Liryn
Open Liryn › Extensions. Click Enable background capture, then Register native host. A browser you have installed but never opened has no profile yet; open it once, then return to Extensions and register it again.
Add the browser extension
Install Liryn Capture from the Chrome Web Store for Chrome or Brave, or from Edge Add-ons for Edge. The native host ships with the package, so there is nothing else to install.
- Linux Mint 22.x (Cinnamon) — primary
- Ubuntu 24.04 LTS — GNOME, X11 & Wayland
- x86_64 only for now
- Chrome, Brave, Edge via connector · Firefox coming
- /usr/bin/liryn — GTK4 app
- per-user capture service and native-messaging host
- Extensions tab for browser setup and status
- distribution FFmpeg integration for stream assembly
Removes the app, service and connector registration. Your downloads stay.
sudo apt remove liryn
